Chris has informed me that this course has been eliminated since it was not taught for too long---a casualty of my three-semester leave. I've included it here since it is still in the catalog, and because it is referenced in the major emphases in

Either it should be renamed "Introduction to Modal Logic," or the description should be changed to reflect a broad range of more basic topics. Here is a proposal, off the top of my head:
Description: Introduction to philosophical logic; what makes a connective a logical connective; is Tarski's definition of truth really a
definition; intuitionistic vs classical logic; other topics as time permits.
I'm prepared to go either way: philosophical logic or modal logic, though I prefer the first alternative. Does anyone have a need to have either topic covered for their own purposes? The mention of the course in the major emphases in
